Hello everyone, and welcome to another blog entry of “Tuesday Night Delight”. I’m your blog host, DJ AMK. In this blog entry, I will discuss my predictions for each match for WWE’s pay-per-view, Survivor Series, which goes on-air in less than 24 hours.
Batista vs. Rey Mysterio
I was shocked at how Batista turned heel at Bragging Rights and attacked his now-former friend Rey Mysterio. Batista had been pushing WWE officials to turn him heel because his babyface character was becoming very stale, and this heel turn, in my opinion, came at a great time. And since he turned heel, Batista’s in-ring promos and mic work had greatly improved and now have more life to them! So at Survivor Series, we will see these two former best friends get in the ring and battle each other. If Batista’s wrestling doesn’t improve, expect Rey to carry this thing through and make it entertaining. I think Batista will get disqualified, go insane, and send Rey out of the arena on a stretcher. I feel if Rey wins the feud itself will lose major momentum and will make Batista’s heel turn a total failure.
MY PREDICTION: REY MYSTERIO WINS VIA DQ
Team Mickie (Mickie James, Eve, Kelly Kelly, Melina and Gail Kim) vs. Team Michelle (Michelle McCool, Jillian, Beth Phoenix, Layla and Alicia Fox)
To be honest I could care less about this match. Almost all of the Diva angles I’ve seen lately have been completely lackluster and cannot be taken seriously. The basics I got from that was Michelle cuts up Mickie’s clothes and gets her uber pissed. If the WWE wants us to start caring about the divas again, don’t put them in bullshit feuds like this one. So who wins? Well, who cares? By process of randomly pointing my finger at the screen with my eyes clothes, I’ll say Team Mickie wins, with Melina and Mickie as the last women standing.
My Prediction: TEAM MICKIE, Melina & Mickie Sole Survivors
Team Morrison (John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, and Finlay) vs. Team Miz (The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger)
In my opinion, this match hasn’t been built nearly as well as the other traditional match has. Sure, we’ve seen Morrison vs. Ziggler, Shelton vs. Sheamus, and Finlay vs. McIntyre, but confrontation between the two captains has been severely lacking. I like what Morrison and Ziggler are doing on Smackdown, but the U.S. title match on Raw made no sense. Why MVP? How about Evan Bourne? That would have made sense. And what happened to the tension between Miz and Swagger? That has died out quickly. Since the Miz won the first encounter, I’ll give the nod to Team Morrison, with Morrison being the only one left.
My Prediction: Team Morrison, Morrison survives
Team Kingston (Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, R-Truth, and Christian) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, The Legacy, CM Punk, and William Regal)
Kofi has been absolutely outstanding in his new feud with Orton. Their encounter on this past Raw propelled their feud to a whole other level. CM Punk and R-Truth have had a nice mini feud on Smackdown for the past couple of weeks, while Christian and Regal have been going at it for months on ECW. The men who wear red are a nice addition to Team Kofi, while the Legacy could turn out to be the x-factor. Could this be DiBiase’s time to turn face? There are a couple of different ways they could go about it. I would like to see Team Orton win with both Orton and DiBiase surviving. However, I see DiBiase getting the pin, causing Randy to get enraged and attack Ted. Either way, with the way Kofi’s been getting the upper hand lately Orton’s team will most likely win the match.
My Prediction: Team Orton, DiBiase and Orton survive
Triple-Threat WHC Match: The Undertaker(c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Big Show
Right now, this triple threat has been build much more effectively than its Raw counterpart. This is due in large part to the lack of a midget in the center of the feud. Instead of making the match a joke and having Hornswoggle run around all over the place, we have seen quality matches and good promos delivered. There has been some tension within Jeri-Show, but for the most part, they have worked well as a team. I expect that to break down to an extent at the PPV. So many things can happen with both of these matches, but for this particular bout, I think the Undertaker will retain. I don’t think Jeri-Show will be completely torn apart, but they will be yelling at each other at the end of the match.
My Prediction: The Undertaker
Triple-Threat WWE Title Match: John Cena (c) vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
The build for this feud could have been awesome, but ended up falling flat on its face. Instead, DX chased Hornswoggle around for four weeks, pedigreed him, and made the actual match seem secondary. Plus, the promo Cena cut on Raw was pathetic. It doesn’t help when your champion has no idea of the match he is in at the upcoming PPV. But as crappy as this has been, this match could go in so many directions that it is still something I am looking forward to watching. The obvious choice would be to have Cena win and DX left giving it their all but to no avail. But then again, the WWE title is being passed around like a game of hot potato lately, so I don’t think Cena will retain. While it is highly unlikely, I would love to see HBK win this thing. I’d rather see that than have HHH win and then end up turning on HBK saying how much better he is. By giving HBK the title, the feud can be left open to a myriad of options, such as the highly doubtful HBK heel turn. Maybe I’m going a bit off the deep end here, but give the damn belt to Shawn.
My Prediction: Shawn Michaels
All in all, this card has potential and can easy be a good PPV or a dismal one like the last Survivor Series.
